Am I back?

I am home, working at home actually. Decided to do so to be able to watch The Oscars and I am just so lazy to prepare early on Mondays as my car is on coding so in the past few weeks since the start of 2010, I've been either absent on Mondays or working from home. So after a few months of being MIA, I think I'm ready to go back to blogging. I missed documenting our life, it sort became my online journal cum scrapbook, which speaking of, I haven't done anything for so long. So, let me see.. what month did I left scrapbooking? I think December 2008. So what happened from December 2008 to this moment. On top of my head, for the first time, my sister and I together with our parents went to Singapore. I booked a February 2009 trip on November 2008 with Cebu Pacific's zero rates, you see, there is no required date for the trip, what's important is that this trip pushes through. Given that there is no set date, I was able to book a plane fare for three for only P6,000+, really really cheap. As based on my estimate, I cannot join them, the booking is for my parents and sister. This trip was planned because my tatay's ICD (same function as pacemaker) needs some serious checking. His ICD was installed in the US in 2007 and since they cannot go back to the US and the version of his ICD is not yet available here in the Philippines, the nearest country that has it is Singapore, which is good in a way so they can visit my brother who's now living there since 2006. Will do a separate post on the details of that Singapore trip, but anyway, I was not able to resist not joining them so, since I have expiring miles in PAL, used it and joined them. Glad I did! it was such a memorable trip and a good bonding activity.

Second trip I had was on May or July back to Beijing again for a week. This is work but light work so we enjoyed it a lot. It's my second time in Beijing so I'm ok with not visiting all the tourist spots again. Hmm.. what else? ah yes, Kurt started in big school. And the biggest move of all, we finally moved out to a new home with just the three of us. Well, it's good and bad at the same time because we're supposed to have our own house built but because of typhoon Ondoy, plans changed that we've decided to rent first.

So.. to track back on the major things that happened, I'll be doing a post about the following:
- Singapore trip with my parents and sister
- our Holy week
- calipanga outing in Nasugbu, Batangas and Tagaytay
- the RAFlympics
- Beijing trip
- Kurt's move to big school
- our almost own house
- typhoon Ondoy
- moving out and living on our own
- December 2009

Then after this, hopefully, I'll be able to do the current happenings

Empty and tired

That's what I'm feeling right now. Been like this eversince my exam ended at 1pm this afternoon. I've already been to the parlor, had a hair cut (a really short one), had foot spa and pedicure, been re-reading my Twilight book BUT still I feel empty, tired and lonely. I don't know if the exam was very hard but there are probably 10 questions which I have definitely guessed and then I have these answers that I initially marked with a question mark with the intention of reviewing them later on which I have never had the time to do so. I guess that's what surprised me. We had a mock exam two months ago, same format, 200 questions that we have to answer in 4 hours, I finished ahead of time, took 3 hours plus and that already includes me reviewing my answers but this time, I never had time for that. My co-examinees didn't seem to be as bothered as me, I don't know why, was it really just me who really thought that the exam was hard? I was so affected that I even shed a few tears when I got home. I am very very tired, you see, I only was able to sleep last night at past 2am or was that 3am, then I woke up at 5:15am. The little boy won't let me sleep last night. Of all the nights, that is the night he decided to stay up late and he won't even let me sleep. Eh since, sleeping has always been my problem, I can't sleep even if I am sleepy already, I was only able to sleep when he finally decided to go to sleep beside me. My MIL was even kind enough to keep him company in the living room watching cartoons while I attempt to go to sleep in our room, hubby is out for a christmas party and he's out again today for his bowling then kita-kits with highschool friends.

I don't know if for how long I'll feel this way. I hope I get over soon as it is already affecting my view of all the other aspect of my life.

I am just so tired. I know I did my best in preparing for this exam. I faithfully attended all the saturday review class, only missing a half day due to an office activity. I faithfully read the review manual three times!! the first one, before the class discussion; second time, was when we were given one month to study before the mock exam and the third time was after the mock exam and before the actual exam. I attended the group study. Even patiently studying everyday after office, sleeping at 12 midnight the earliest for that matter.

Hay... I know this post is so...frustrating. I am.

Almost back

I am almost back. I'll already have my exam tomorrow. After months of preparation and a week of leave to study, eto na ang final moment. I'm not studying today. Masunurin akong bata, as told by the reviewers, I'll rest today. So while the little boy is in school, I'll be surfing the net, reading blogs.

Droppin by

I know...I know... I haven't update this blog for so long. I am supposed to post about the following:
~ little boy's birthday in school
~ his first exam
~ his trick or treat

BUT as usual I am so busy. Busy with everything but mainly because I am preparing for my exam this December. I only have a month left to prepare so I have to treasure the precious time that I have to study. So, I apologize for this. I will definitely be back with a vengeance, but it does not mean that I won't be accessing this blog until the exam, I will but probably not much updates. But I definitely still visit your blogs. Don't worry! hindi ako magpapaiwan sa chismis.

Busy busy busy

I am sooo busy that I hardly have time to open this blog and post a new entry. Busy season in the office hasn't formally started yet but I am busy with all things related to it such as planning and admin. My role as the cluster's scheduler is so hard!! add to that pa that I am studying. I have whole day classes every saturday and it doesn't end there, I have to make sure that I study every night. Then there is pa our school dilemma for the little boy which until we haven't fixed yet due to matters not within our control and matters that we can control.

I know I have some tags pending, will do it once schedule permits.

I hate this chores

A very long overdue tag from Em. Been so busy with the trainings I've been conducting in the office.

~~~START COPY~~~
This meme is pretty simple.
Here are the rules:
1.) List down the household chores you hate and why. Do you think you can survive without helpers and nannies?
2.) Copy the image.
3.) Tag as many girlfriends you want, the daddies and hubbies can also join.
4.) Add your blog's link in the domesticated divas linky love. You can add all your blogs.
5.) Leave ME a comment and I'll add you up in the masterlist.
My answer: I don't like major cleaning. I can manage maintenance cleaning but the general cleaning, I hate scheduling and doing it, but once I start doing it though, dire-diretso ako. Lot of factors why, I perspire so much so I hate that feeling na pawis tapos ang dumi-dumi. I also have allergic rhinitis so grabe ang "hachu!" while cleaning. I also easily get pimples so expect after a major cleaning, labas ang pimples kasi nga pawis, mainit then madumi.
7 Random Things About Me
Jody tagged me and I remember doing this before when my blog was very new so I went back and saw my post about this back in June 26, 2007.
The rules:
A. List these rules on your blog.
B. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog.
C. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
You’ll have to read on for my 7 facts and see who I tagged.
My answer, I think I'll copy most of what I've written on my original post about this.
1. i belong to a family of 6, 3 girls and 3 boys and i am the youngest. i am a menopausal baby, my mother was 42 years old when she gave birth to me and the age gap between me and my eldest sister is 15 years. i am also the only girl that my 3 brothers were able to "control" since my other 2 sisters are older than them. i never became close with my siblings because of the age gap. and oh, i was conceived because my parents are on vacation in Bicol = D (wow!! too much for #1, parang ang dami na agad nito ah.)
2. i did not gain this much weight because of pregnancy. in fact, i think i only gained max of 25lbs. the entire pregnancy and this includes yung pagbawi sa lost weight nung 1st trimester. so when? i gained weight after i stopped breastfeeding, so that was 7 months after i gave birth. i was so excited to finally have the chance to drink coke again, coffee and chocolates. my three favorite food/drinks!
3. i only had two boyfriends, one was in highschool - illegal pa kasi bawal pa ko mag-boyfriend nun and sinagot ko lang sya kasi ang tagal na nya nangliligaw sa kin. second, in college - he became my hubby na = )
4. i am shy and not outgoing. i seldom initiate conversation.
5. i love daydreaming. until now, i do it.
6. i want to study either culinary, interior design, make-up
7. same as jody, i am a spa-addict! i always go for a weekly massage, and whenever I feel stressed in the office, I go to the nearby spa and have an hour and 1/2 massage.
I'm tagging Tet, Quel, Pat, Maver, Rocks, Nol and Mia.
Our daily schedule...
Jane wants to know our daily schedule, so here it goes...
Our schedule is kinda weird, I am a working mom but I don't do alarms, no required time to be in the office so if I don't have a morning meeting, I don't really care as to what time I wake up so my alarm is either hubby or Kurt. But generally, here's our schedule:
6:00am - Kurt wakes me up for dede (yes, he still drinks dede at night - did not bother weaning him yet kasi yoko mawala ang love nya for milk) then we both go back to sleep, OR, if he slept early the previous night, he'll wake us up na shouting: "Wake up! wake up! di na dark! wake up!" LOL!
7:30am - Hubby wakes me up. Kurt's class starts at 11am so no rush in the morning but I can just imagine our schedule next year when he finally moves to big school.
7:35am - Hubby wakes me up again, I am such a sleepy head that he has to wake me up several times, on really tamad days, I just let him leave me and I take my own car to work
7:40ish - Have breakfast
8:00ish - Take a bath, change to office attire, prepare for office
8:30ish - Prepare Kurt's undies (brief and sando), socks, lampin as punas sa likod then check if he has clean uniforms (sometimes I do this na before going to sleep). Prepare his baon - if it needs cooking, but if cookies or cereals lang, prepared na the night before and now, usually MIL asks me na the night before if the little boy wants to bring rice kasi sya na ang nagpeprepare ng ulam I just add rice, juice and water in his lunch box.
8:45ish - Three of us rides the car, yes three of us kasi Kurt gets his daily dose of driving lesson with dada. Hubby lets him drive with him around the block then off we go to office. Kaya sobrang alam nya ang left and right because of this driving
9:30ish - Office
12noon - 2pm - Lunch with officemates or in Glorietta for windowshopping then just takeout lunch
7pm-8pm - Depends on when hubby is ok to go as he usually has either basketball or jogging with officemates, we go home na
8:35 - 9pm - dependes on traffic, have dinner at home, watch LOBO (the only teleserye I watch) LOL! or pag nasa mood we eat out or go shopping
9:15pm - if little boy's still awake, we ask him about school, ask what he wants as baon the next day - as in we'll go through the process of him looking at his pambaon then choose, then kulitan sa bed, read LOTs of books
10:00pm-10:30pm - puts him to sleep - if he had a nap, he usually sleeps at past 11pm
10:30pm-12mn - watching tv with hubby or blogging
We have a different schedule though on Mondays kasi hubby has bowling tournament on Mondays, eh since I don't usually drive on Mondays as coding ako, I go with him. We leave the office at 7pm to get to Robinsons Place Manila by 8pm - he'll go bowling while I do window shopping then we get home past 10pm and usually the little boy's sleeping na.
Our unofficial rule is if we arrive the prior night na tulog na si little boy we make it up the next morning by playing with him longer before going to work.
Then on fridays, I usually also would bring my car as I want to be home early unless may gimik kami ni hubby. I'll be home by past 7pm then I'll check the little boy's bag for homework then play with him na.
On days when I bring my car, I usually get home at past 7pm so more time with the little boy.
Beijing China kwento - Ming Tombs
Continuation of the Beijing kwento...
Ming tombs (UNESCO world heritage site) – we went to Ding Ling, the only tomb that have been excavated. Ming tombs is composed of 13 tombs of the 17 emperors of the Ming dynasty, instead of building pyramids, they create an underground palace on hills and that serve as the emperor’s mausoleum. We passed by cherry farm so we bought na rin.
Going to Underground Palace where the tombs are buried:
Inside the underground palace, behind us is the emperor's throne and some of his possessions:
A replica of the emperor's, empress', concubines tombs and their kept treasures:
Finally, up and out!
Last in ou itinerary for the day was Summer Palace.
Beijing China kwento - part 1
I was fortunate enough to be included to those who will attend our firm’s global symposium in Beijing, China. There were ten of us, three partners and four senior managers/managers. Three of us left for Beijing on Wednesday, May 28, early morning as we’ve decided to take the China Southern airline. We were actually given a choice of airline, either China Southern, with travel time of six hours (including the stop over in Xiamen) or thru Cathay via Hongkong but the travel time is nine hours (including transfer of plane in HK) and will be arriving late night of Wednesday which I didn’t like so we chose the first one. China Southern is a small plane, same as the plane used by Cebu Pacific on their international flights, language is Chinese and most of the passengers are Chinese, I agree that Cathay would have been a better option but we opted for this because the time that we’ll get to ride Cathay is two hours lang to HK then the three hours is via a domestic plane din so ok lang.
We have a stop over in Xiamen for 40 mins to complete the entry requirements, we had the immigration and customs check here then went back to our plane. We landed Beijing at past 3pm. Our first impression – yuck! Smog!! As in we’re so shocked to see the very poor visibility due to dirty air (but we later on was told that it’s like that because of all the construction and that since it’s windy, the sands on the nearby dessert is being carried to the city – but according to Wikipedia, madumi talaga air in Bejing – must be the reason why I developed throat infection), funny pa kasi one of the kids of the partners commented that kawawa naman daw ang kids sa Beijing because they don’t know that the sky is blue. Hehehehe…..
Since we already completed the immigration and customs check in Xiamen, we went straight to the luggage carousel and waited for our luggage then went for currency change. Hay naku, inikot-ikot pa namin lahat ng money changer sa airport to get the best deal only to find out that they charge RMB60 so lugi pa rin. Then our next problem was how to go to the hotel given that nobody among us three can speak Mandarin. So we went to the taxi queue hoping that the driver will understand the printed name of the hotel pero unfortunately hindi so we’ve just decided to call the hotel and let them talk to the driver. I was surprised that Beijing is so clean, modern and has lots and lots of building, may expectation kasi is tipong Chinatown but eto, hindi, parang HK but bigger and marami pa ring nagba-bike. Funny as tipong mga naka-high heels and suit pero nagba-bike, it was also my first time to see a hybrid bicycle/motorcycle, I want sana to take pictures but baka ma-offend sila. According to most of our colleagues, there have been really huge improvements in Beijing in preparation for the Olympics. To those who’ve been there two years ago, na-surprise din sila with the development. We spent RMB70+ to get to our hotel. We’re booked at Park Plaza in Wangfujing, buti na lang ganda location ng hotel namin, it’s in the middle of the happenings. Rested for a while then prepared for the cocktails and registration for the symposium on Regent Hotel, venue of the symposium, which is just beside our hotel and even has connecting doors as same owner sila. Chika chika with the partners from Germany, US, HK, etc. then went back to hotel to change to casual for pasyal. Good thing most of the hotel staff can speak English, we asked them how to go to the Food street which is famous for the weird grilled and fried foods such as scorpion, snake, sea urchin, centipede, sea horse, bugs, etc. It was two blocks away from our place and shock kami na talagang totoo pala yun, we’re hungry pero upon seeing these “exotic” food and the smell! Yucky!! Nawalan talaga kami ng gana. But since we’re so hungry as cocktails lang talaga yun sa registration ng symposium we opted to try the safe food just so we have some food in our stomach. After that pasyal-pasyal on the malls of Wangfujing. We’re surprised that it’s cold as when I checked the internet before I left, we’re not expecting it to be that cold, para kaming nasa SanFo sa lamig then add pa the wind and to think I only brought a shawl with me.
At the Street Food Market with some of the weird food:
Me with an officemate while walking along the main road. At the back you'll see the bicycle sign post, they have a dedicated lane for bicycles. Really good huh! wish we have here one for the motorcycles:
I am an Examiner
Got tagged by Pat
ISTJ - The "Examiner"
ISTJ's are very loyal, faithful and dependable. They place good importance on honesty and integrity. They are "good citizens" who can be depended on to do the right thing for their families and communities. While they generally take things very seriously, they also have an offbeat sense of humor and can be a lot of fun - especially at family or work-related gatherings.
ISTJs are often called inspectors. They have a keen sense of right and wrong, especially in their area of interest and/or responsibility. They are noted for devotion to duty. Punctuality is a watchword of the ISTJ. The secretary, clerk, or business(wo)man by whom others set their clocks is likely to be an ISTJ.
At work, ISTJs get things done on a timely basis. They honor deadlines, and they believe in thoroughness. A half-finished joy is not a job well done. They established procedures and schedules, and are uncomfortable with those who do not do the same. ISTJs put duty before pleasure. As long as they can fulfil their responsibilities, they feel useful and thereby satisfied. Their work does not have to be fun, but it has to count toward something productive. ISTJs believe that vacations are something that one takes only when work has been accomplished; thus, at times they do not take vacations even when they could and should. - (Hmm... this one I am not sure because I seldom pass on vacations, actually, bihira nga ako makaipon ng VLs).
Famous ISTJs:
- Andrew Johnson - American President
- Benjamin Harrison - American President
- Elizabeth II - Queen of England
- Evander Holyfield- boxer
- George W. Bush - American President
- George Washington - American President
- Harry Truman - American President
- Herbert Hoover - American President
- Jack Webb - actor, producer
- Jackie Joyner-Kersee - athlete (heptathion)
- Thomas - Christ's apostle
- Warren Buffet - Investor, businessman
Scrapbooking World
I have been so out of the loop on scrapbooking. In fact, I haven't posted anything for a long time in my scrapbooking blog. I haven't touched my scrapbooking magazines subscriptions and just few minutes ago, I browsed my mail digest from scrapbooks-exchange yahoogroups and I can definitely say that I am so out of the loop.
I really love doing scrapbook layouts, I've even accepted the fact that I may not be able to make pages as beautiful as my SE friends BUT nalulungkot ako na wala na ako sa mundong yun. So many factors. I just hope I'll go back there soon. I need that outlet.
Thanks Em. Your tag is so timely as I have tons of things to do which I need to organize now otherwise I'll be lost kasi hindi ko alam kung ano ang lahat ng dapat kong gawin.
BUSY PEOPLE: 1.) my chopsuey 2.) mind bubbles 3.) vanity kit 4.) somethingpurple 5.) a detour 5.) juls random thoughts 6.) (your link here)
1.) Prepare for my training session tomorrow. I'll start teaching at 8am and I am only reading the topics now and it's 10:14 PM already.
2.) Prepare for the rest of my instructor sessions. I will be teaching whole day (both concepts and hands on), started today until friday of next week and so far, I only get the chance to prepare the night before the session.
3.) In addition to this, review and edit the final report for a client tomorrow after my staff completed the review notes and submit it to the partner's review just in time for the client meeting on wednesday, which I am REQUIRED to attend, so I have to do this in between my teaching assignments.
4.) I need to review and edit the other reports (two reports for each client) for all my other eleven clients. These are all due on May 15, again, sabay sa teaching assignment ko, oh di ba?
5.) Update blog. I have so many kwento about our weekend gimiks that I hardly have time to write.
6.) Be a MOM to Kurt even if work is neck deep. I keep my weekends sacred that no matter how busy I am at work, I make sure that saturdays and sundays are for family only. I go back to work on sunday night after kurt has fallen asleep.
Now, I am oh so glad that I deferred the certification that I was supposed to take this june as posted here and here, otherwise I need to add here two more super urgent tasks which are:
1. to attend two hour review class every night, and
2. is to read and understand at least 20 pages of my book everyday
Hiatus
I am out of touch again. First, the holy week vacation where we spent in Batangas. Though we have a DSL connection there, the computer is busy with the almost whole day til night webcam and voice chat with my siblings. My sister and I together with our family both spent the holy week in Batangas so naturally our siblings would want to be connected, so we're chatting with my brother in Singapore, his wife and baby left in Pasay, my other brother in Saudi (busy opening Jollibee stores) and my sister in the US.
Then this week, work is up to my neck. As in super busy. Add pa the fact that I attend review classes everyday from 6pm to 8pm, back to unfinished work or study. I always go home, earliest na is 10pm then aral again. So ayun, hopefully, load will be lighter in the next few days. I miss blog hopping, i miss looking for opps and i definitely miss writing about our life here.
Fastforward to June please
I am currently in a critical stage of my career. I have to take and pass a certification exam that is, although not required per policy, is impliedly needed to gain credibility and reliability which in some profession requires only experience. The exam will happen on June. So now, I have to make sure that I use my best to pass the exam. I have no excuse not to and it would be such a shame given my level and number of years working. Oh God, talk about pressure. I'm sorry I have to write this as I need an outlet. Pressure is up to my neck already. - blogged using my phone :-)
Pahabol: I want it to be second half of June already, meaning, I'm done with the exam!
A petty post
I have to log this. I have a new favorite breakfast/snack item from Starbucks! well, I started with this love affair last January but I only realized now that I've been frequently buying this, truly enjoying each moment while I savor my BAGEL! Yep! That's my new favorite from Starbucks, their multi-grain bagel toasted until I can feel its outer skin crunchy, smothered with yummy cream cheese and partnered with strong brewed coffee, heaven! I used to buy even the cream cheese from Starbucks but yesterday I've decided to buy my own tub in the grocery.P35 for a small cream cheese is not cheap you know, so I decided to buy my own 1/3 less fat Philadelphia cream cheese! yum! yum!
Photo courtesy of http://blissfultravel.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/greg-olsen-bagel-a-day.jpg searched in Google.
Note: this is not how the Starbucks bagel actually looks like but it is the closest. Starbucks bagel has more grains (right term?) on top and it's more brownish and flaky looking being a multi-grain bread, I can't take a photo of my bagel as I already finished the top half LOL!
And while I'm at it, I realized that the blog I found on google is really nice because the entries are all about travel. Now, I have a new addition to my fave reads.
6 quirkiness in Me!
I was tagged by Em! I learned a lot of random things about you sis.
The rules: Link to the person that tagged you. Post the rules on your blog. Share six un-important things/habits/quirks about your self. Tag 6 random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs. Let these random people know that they are tagged by leaving comments in their blog.Let your tagger know when your entry is up.
Learned from Em that quirkiness means strikingly unconventional. I can't think immediately of 6 but I hope I'll fill this up.
1. I can't just watch television. Yep, there must be something else that I'm doing while watching tv. I usually pair this with reading (kinda weird huh?! pero naiintindihan ko pareho)
2. On buffets, I switch eating main food with dessert. So, usually, I already have my dessert plate with me, when I start eating.
3. I can't stand dust. I'll never stop sneezing and my nose will get all itchy not until I leave the place. But cleaning is not my fave. I guess because I don't like the dust on me,kumbaga eh ayaw ko sila istorbohin. hehehehe.. I can do other house stuff pero cleaning is my least favorite, but if I have no choice, I'll do it pero for sure, I have sipon after.
4. I posted it here before, I am inpatient. As in! I hate waiting. Sobra! and hubby can testify to this and has always been my victim.
5.I love sleeping. Although, it takes a lot of effort for me to fall asleep as in I have to be conditioned to do that kaya I hate being disturbed once I am asleep that’s why I don’t have an alarm clock even on working days except when I have early meetings – good thing I work on a flexi time company. And this is the main reason, why I can’t have another baby, i'm not ready yet to go back to sleepless/deprived nights.
6. I don’t care about the news. I don’t read the newspaper or even watch the news on TV – if I happen to watch it on TV, it was not me who turned it on or I only have it as a background to do something else (see item 1). I know, it’s irresponsible of me not to be up to date with current events BUT who can blame me, I only see bad news. Though when I was in the US, I always watch their news.
Wow, I had a hard time with this one, and I had to thank Jane kasi her entry about this made me think of my last two items (5&6).
I am now tagging Quel. Sis, I want to know your quirky habits.
